Concept- Cynefin Topic- My Community, My Heritage

Welcome to the Autumn Term

This term, our concept is Cynefin: Our Community, Our Heritage. Through this exciting topic, we will be exploring Llanharry and our local community. We will be learning about what makes our village special and developing a sense of belonging and pride in the place where we live.

As part of our learning, we will be exploring maps of Llanharry and the surrounding area, developing our map-reading skills and identifying important landmarks within our community. We will investigate how the village has changed over time, comparing Llanharry in the past with the present day. We will learn about jobs people had in the past and how these have changed, as well as exploring significant buildings and places that have helped shape our local heritage.

We hope to take part in local walks and community visits, helping us to learn more about the people, places and history of our village. Through stories, photographs, artefacts and discussions with members of our community, we will discover what life was like in Llanharry in years gone by. In Science we will be exploring materials and their properties.

We are having a strong focus on our reading this term in Class 2. Each week your child will have red words sent home. These will be practised in school and tested weekly, with new words being introduced when they are ready. Please continue to practise these little and often at home. There are also phonics flashcards and overviews attached below to support your child's learning.

We will be uploading photographs and updates about our weekly learning on the Class Dojo story, so please keep an eye out! Please remember that all updates and termly reports will be shared through Dojo, so make sure you are logged in and have notifications enabled.
