Spring Term 2026- Muck, Mess & Mixture

Concept-Colour & Expression

Welcome back to the Spring Term. 

Through this concept we will be exploring colours and colour mixing. We will be learning about the artist Kandinsky and will be creating artwork in a similar style. Throughout the process we will be exploring different media- including collage, paint, pastels and creating natural art outside. We will be learning about abstract art and the use of colours and shapes. As part of our topic we will be exploring music and dance and exploring how colours and art makes us feel. We will also learn about some festivals and celebrations. As part of our topic we will be making links with our local community and will be visiting the village. We will explore mixing through mixing colours and potions. 

We are having a strong focus on our reading this term in Class 2. Each week your child will have red words sent home- they will be tested each week and new ones sent when they are ready. Please remember to keep practising these little and often. There are also phonics flashcards and overviews attached below.

Autumn Term 2025- Ar Lan Y Mor.

Concept- What a Wonderful World- Exploring

Welcome to the Autumn Term! The children have settled extremely well and are excited for the year ahead.

We will be exploring Llanharry and Wales, with a focus on beaches in Wales. We will compare these with other beaches around the World. As we explore beaches of Wales, we will find out about the dinosaurs that liked the Welsh beaches. Please let us know if you have any expertise in fossils, dinosaurs or sand art and would like to visit our class.

We will be using a grid method for homework for the Autumn Term. There is a grid with some activities linked to our topic. These can be completed as and when you choose throughout the term. Please bring in completed tasks or you can upload on dojo. These activities are supposed to be a fun and interactive way to approach learning and support the tasks we are doing in school. I look forward to your creations and remember-be as creative as you like!
